My office

I often wonder about the spaces that folks have and where they work. I imagine what their office is like and what they look at each day to inspire them.
I have a very small desk and not very inspiring but it is special due to the pictures of my family that surround me. I thought that I would share this with all of you incase you often think like I do... LOL Probably just me that wonders but it can be fun.
Jenny of http://wondersofwhimsy.blogspot.com/ showed her BEAUTIFUL Office on her blog. My office only dreams of being that nice but Jenny can decorate too and that is just not something I am very good at. So this is my humble little office space but I do love it.
The pictures above my desk are more then 200 yrs old each. They are my gr. Grandmother and Gr.Gr. Grandparents. BTW those are all girls. Their hair is pulled back and braided very tightly. They sat on their braids. Man am I glad that wasn't me.
Have the most wonderful day. I am off to cook dinner. I am tired and sore today from too much fun this weekend.

Mischief Maker and Midnight Prowler

I love halloween and couldn't wait to Jump in and make something for it.
I saw the pattern for this cat in a book I have and had to make it. Then I decided that a pumpkin was in order as well. OH what fun these are.
They are really pretty big. Around 18 inches tall each and 30 inches around.

The Thoughtfulness continues.

Oh I consider myself very blessed. I have so many wonderful friends that bring so much joy to my life.
One of my very good friends and customers had ordered the penny rug that is in a prev. post sent me the pictures of the whole set that I had created this rug for. Well I had told my friend that I too admired her work and her little daisies were my favorite. MY sweet friend emailed the artist and purchased those sweet daisies for me. The artist kept it a secret and they arrived specially made for me. I was shocked and pleased as can be.

So very thoughtful of my friend and the Artist included a very special note letting me know of my secret surprise.
Thank you dear Sweet Alba. I will treasure them always. The best gift is being your friend.

WOW, LUCKY PEA!

WOW, To back track Jenny from, http://wondersofwhimsy.blogspot.com/ and I had chatted about trading fabric. Well that sweet little lady sent me this huge box of fabric and goodies. It seemed never ending and I love all my new threads! Lots of inspiration and no excuses.. I could be in trouble. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Then she also sent me a digital print of her photography. It is very pretty and I have picked a frame. It will hang in our bedroom where I can see it when I wake up. I am sure it will brighten my mornings. Little card as well.
Along with all of THIS there was a book. A book I have wanted for awhile and just never have purchased for myself. Sweet Jenny sent that along as well.

Happy Birthday Tyler Jay!

April 29th, 1986 at 6:38 Pm in Bittburg Germany Tyler was born. He had every nurse there swoonie over him like putty in his hands. I can't tell ya how many times they said oh this one is a charmer, He is so cute. What a doll.. They were right but I wish they could have known the terrible two's! LOL
My baby is all grown up now and married. But still has me sucked in with my blue eyes and crooked grin. I am truely blessed to know such a man. He gave me my sweet Courtney- DIL too.
22 years? where did they go? I would do it all again. Yep, even the tough days.

Well I worked a bit this weekend, very busy at that. But I just have to whip the back piece on and girls it is done. I am so very happy with it and to know that it is almost done. Dollies are soo calling my name. LOL

More kitties

This is a picture of our other kitty. This is Miss Bootsie. She is a pretty little thing but can be very moody. I guess she is a typical gal huh? LOL She didn't want her picture taken. Finally she gave in. She hardly never leaves the studio. She has claimed that room since I got her. But then there was always a pile of fabric for her to lay in or at one time I had a cradle in there and she used to sleep in that.
Now she sleeps in my chair so when I kick her out of it, she jumps onto this dinning room chair. Has to have her pedistal. Must be Nice! LOL

Off to clean the house. boo hiss but someone has to do it.

peek a boo!

This is one of our two kitties. She adopted us about 2 yrs ago and we just love her to death. While my daughter is away at school she tunnels under the covers and makes her nest. This is her pretty blue peepers looking at ya.
Her name is Twittles. My daughter LOVES this kitty. She loves everyone. A very loving kitty for a stray that just showed up. Very sweet and a excellent mouser. SO I think that is a fair trade for some kibble. LOL

I got mail!

two tiny little fat quaters came in the mail today. Whoo hoo. It doesn't matter if it is a scrap, fat 1/4 or yard of fabric. That simple cotton cloth brings such joy to my spirit! Guess this is my fix huh?

Haven't got anything else done today. Boring day really and just pooped.

progress

Yep, burned a few hours of midnight oil and did some more stitching. I worked on it in about 3 hours and got this far. Quit last night when I got the main stems done and went to bed. I will drag today but hey that is what it takes sometimes. Chasing the clock and sleep walking. LOL

Current Project in the works

Okay I will show ya another work in progress. I will show ya the finished thing too but it turning out so cool.This is what I got done in about 2 hours. That includes cutting it out and pinning. reworking the pattern. See picture above.



I had a customer request for a spring time Penny rug so I rolled some pictures her way to get her thoughts. She sent me pictures of dollies she had purchased so I could get colors and feel for what she wanted.
Lots of back and forths but this is what I came up with in the end. Now PLEASE remember it is far from done. Well like in one more day. I am a very fast stitcher.
So lots of work and no cheating. Just pins and stitches. But I love doing this for something different for me when I need a break from shakers and dollies. LOL I was inspired by a Need'l love book. I love the penny work in those books.
It will have lots more to it till it is finished but I will show you as it progresses.

Sweet Strawberry Sally

Whoo HOo! She is finally done. I had her done but had to make all her stuff. What would a girl be without stuff? LOL
I am so very pleased with her. She is so possitivly huggable in person. Thank you Tonya for being my inspiration.

This little gal is listed on ebay. Along with her 4 strawberries. Yep, you get three big fat strawberries to place in your favorite bowl. I have her and the strawberries in my big wooden bowl and it looks so cute.

More shakers?

I have been busy making more shakers. I know you all are probably sick of seeing them, but I have so much fun with them. I had a customer request for these and I really like the way they turned out. The elephant is my favorite but not because of the political party just cause he is so sweet. They both turned out nice. They are getting packed up to go to their new home. Thank you my friend!

well I am off to make a dollie calling my name. Do a bit of playing with the 4 legged kids and straighten up so not so much to do tomorrow. I hate Mondays. House cleaning. I would rather stay in the studio and make dollies. But then I figure if that is all I did it would get boring and be harder to create.

Going to the Circus

Do you remember the Circus? I remember it scared the devil out of me.*WINK*
Now the memory is a fond one of spending time with my Father. Dad took me places to get me away from Momma and give her a break. It was usually free- like fishing but every now and then we did something fun like the Circus.

HAPPY EASTER

Calling all my Peeps! Isn't this adorable. I don't know who did it but too funny.

May you have your fill of eggs, bunnies and joy today. With the kids grown we keep it quiet around here.
We do have a reason to C*E*L*E*B*R*A*T*E. On Good Friday I found out that I am finally cancer *FREE* for 13 yrs and now am off the registery. YEH! It has been a very long road to get to this point in my life, But I couldn't be happier. God has smiled upon me and healed me. I feel refreshed and re-newed like never before. A new day and *NEW* HOPE*. I hope you get to feel the joy and strength I feel without ever having to go through the trial.

This piece is sold, but I have been working on lots of projects. just that some are going faster then others. I have designed a whole new doll body, several heads as well as a ton of doodles for future designs. I just can't keep up with it all flowing into day dreams and night dreams. I guess I am throwing myself at my work... It is throwing me it feels like it some days especially when I can't sleep for days on end.
With that said this Pea is hitting the pillow it is 3:30 am. Good night nurse now I will sleep till 10:30.

Introducing AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

Hello I would like you to meet America the Beautiful. It is a two piece set. I just love the way this set turned out. She is so very sweet in person. Pictures do not do her justice at all.

America is made from stained osnaburg and measures alone 22 1/2 inches. She features hand painted hazel eyes, separate stitched eye lids and embroidered mouth.

Her dress is made from a wonderful quilt shoppe fabric that I have been saving for just the right piece. I love this fabric. It is a over dyed cream to parchment color with black Americana images. All the hems are done by hand as well as the trims. The trim around her neck and waist are wool felt, I hand scalloped. Around the neck at every scallop I added a rusty bell. Her wings are made from painted, stained muslin and I stitched that same scallop pattern on them as well.

They are pinned on with a rusty pin and remove for easy storage.

America holds close to her heart the American Flag.

It is hand made by me. Traditional fabrics red, white, & blue. A rusty star garland to wire it to her hands. America is placed on a dowel inside which is placed into a wooden base.
The box is made from Paper mache and measures 5 1/2 x5 1/2 x 4. America placed on top of the box measures a overall height of 26 1/2 inches.

The box has been painted black and crackled with cream. I stained the box well for that old feel. It has been sealed well for years of use. It has on two sides, part of America the Beautiful Song.

A pattern by Folk-n-whimsey was used for America with my own touches.

Okay here is goes. Don't think anyone REALLY wants to know about me, but I will do this anyway. Don't like to break the rules - too Often anyway..;)

1. Somewhat of a rebel at times. I hate rules and regulations. I had to put up with that living in a military family.

2. born in the midwest and raised in Montana- that military family thing again. The only time i can think of that the military didn't move someone.. LOL

3. Family has lots of redheads but I am the first ever with blue eyes. all the ones before me for generations had brown eyes. which is more rare.

4.Have been published twice. Once in a magazine and the other a small free flyer by Aleenes. Was also my designs were featured on their T.V. show. My 2 seconds of fame. LOL

5.have a southern accent even though never lived in the south. Father raised in the south and Mother raised by Grandmother who was southern. Accent so bad had to have speech theropy for it. LOL

6. I keep a journal of every piece that I have made. I tally up how many items I have made at the end of the year. One year it was over 3,000.

That is it. Useless stuff about me.

Introducing Binky

Well after much work, um 24 heads folks. Yep, it seems that I was in head He++... I couldn't make a good round head to save my life. I thought I was gonna have to be committed to the old artist's home. LOL
Here she is a full size dolly and not just a head.. I have been making so many shakers lately that I hadn't made a full sized dolly since before Christmas. what is up with that? Don't know but making a doll sure felt good.
Back to Binky. She is just the sweetest of bunnies. She even comes with a old doll cookie cutter. I have her listed on ebay if you would like to take a full size peek and get her story.

What a dork I am.. not to mention a terrible friend. Last month I won the most wonderful goodies including THE DOLLY from Sylvia Anderson. She drew my name, shipped off this wonderful gift of her pure artists heart and I put it in my personal journal, the excitement but never gave her the proper spot light here in blog land. I was browsing around on the blogs today from the one heart list and found another lady that goes by the name of Pea. I must admit that this upset me a tad. I thought that I was the only gal known as Pea and not really sure how I feel about it at the moment. I know that a name is a name but for about 20 yrs now people have been calling me Pea.
Also what if folks confuse her with me? If she upset someone in the internet world would they assume it was me? Lots of questions and no real answers. She seems like a nice enough person from what I can gather from her blog. But who knows really.

Spring Fever Shaker Collection

Who KNew? That a simple sweet faced bunny could be such a bothersome little guy? LOL
I have been working on this New collection for about a week now. Everyone was being nice and cooperating till we got to Bayley there. He DEcided that he was going to be difficult. But at last he shut up and just let me be in charge. As it should be. LOL

Oh I am so pleased with the end results. This is the first in this collection and I am sure as time and imagination allow there will be more. I am itching to get back to the studio and start on new ones. I have so many ideas in my head. God is certainly keeping me busy. I do like that. I just hope I can keep up with him.

44 years and still breathing

Yep, I did it. I said my age. NOw not that I am special or less wrinkled or less fat but ya know still breathing! January 23, 1964 this woman and the late Phil Harris had me. He died shortly before my birth. SOoOO who do I look like? Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Now I would say him when I was little but if you look at the pics from the wedding you would say her probably. I still say him more then her but a blend works too.
So there you have it, now you know what a Pea Picker looks like. LOL. I am going to have a happy birthday. Just working on a new dollie. YEH for me.

The BIG DAY!

Well My son is now a Married and man and I am a MIL. WOW! that sounds weird to me.
Oh how we love Courtney. She is a living doll as you can see by the pictures.
Such a happy day for the whole family and her family is sooo easy going and relaxed. Very nice for sure.

I was up till 5 am doing all the flowers. The bouquets turned out nice but the corsages yick! But I was cross eyed and ready to pass out. Never again. From now on do the bouquet and his button flower and that is it. Still the most money. I managed to do all the flowers for around a 100 bucks and if you think just the button flowers for the guys are 7.00 each x 5 WOW!
The cake was white with Raspberry filling. sweet and simple. YUMMMMMMMM!
What a lovely day now I am gonna sleep for a week.

Snow, rain and floods

This is sure pretty stuff but it and the rain caused floods all over the state. Some folks had it pretty bad. we are very lucky we live high on a hill.
some towns are still 10 FEET UNDER WATER!!! Can you imagine?
If you can please make donations to your local Red cross. They help lots of folks with food, clothing and shelters in areas hit the hardest. I saw today that one woman lost her house, went back to see if anything was left and found her kitty. She said that nothing else mattered. They all survived. Wow! I am very greatful.
I am safe, dry and warm and more rain on the way.

Okay the holiday season brought the fluff and glitter side in me out. I guess I am still a little girly every once in awhile.
This little gal is so very sweet. I currently have her listed on ebay for a BIN.
Take a peek at all her pictures and a cool picture of my snow. We got 11 inches in less then 24 hours. Guess not going any where for a few days. Maybe I can actually get some work done.
we can only hope.
